Just before Christmas every year our church presents Part I of Handel’s Messiah, the Christmas portion, with the Hallelujah chorus. A community chorus of some one hundred singers rehearses for two weeks, and is joined by a twenty-piece chamber orchestra and professional soloists for the performances. No tickets are needed; just plan to arrive early for your favorite seat. A $20.00 per person donation is suggested for the collection at the performance.
In 2011 the soloists will be: Bonnie Pepper, soprano, Christopher Pfund, tenor, Wanda Brister, mezzo soprano and Mark Kaczmarczyk, bass.
The 2011 performances will take place on Saturday and Sunday, December 17 & 18, at 4:00 pm both days.
Join the Chorus: If you have choral skills, you are encouraged to join the chorus for our 45th annual Messiah concert. Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, December 6 from 7:30-9:00 pm in the sanctuary. Other rehearsals will be Wednesday, December 7, Tuesday, December 13 and a final rehearsal with orchestra on Wednesday, December 14. There is a refundable score deposit of $20. There are no auditions; everyone is welcome. The singers always have a great time. Just ask one! Contact Dr. Craig Scott Symons, craigs@fccog.org, for more information.
