Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Below are some helpful guidelines from First Church to help make your planning easier and more enjoyable.

Set the Date

The first thing you need to do is lock in the date and time of your wedding by phoning the church office at 203-637-1791 ext 814 and speaking to our Church Office Coordinator. After securing your date and time, she will have one of our pastors phone you to arrange a personal meeting.

Wedding Music

Our Minister of Music will provide music for your ceremony. Once your wedding is booked and confirmed, he will reach out to you 2-3 months prior to the ceremony to schedule a meeting to discuss music choices.

Multi-Colored Lighting and Reception Tables

We have installed colorful lighting equipment so that you can choose your wedding colors for special effects on the walls and/or ceiling. Now that the pews have been replaced with moveable chairs, smaller weddings can also have a reception in the Meetinghouse!

Wedding Decorations

We are happy to provide you with the names of local decorators and/or florists who are familiar with the church. Should you choose to use a florist unfamiliar with our sanctuary, please advise them not to use adhesives to fasten floral arrangements to the church walls and row ends. Please notify the church well in advance if you wish to leave the flowers for the Sunday worship service.

Our stained glass windows can add to your decor.

Wall lighting colors can complement your decor.

Receptions can be in our Auditorium, too. It has a stage and lighting balcony.

Wrought-iron aisle candelabra are available for your wedding for an additional fee. The 16 candelabra have three candles each and are placed along the sides of the center aisle.

Please do not throw rice, birdseed or their substitutes inside or outside the church.

Photographers

While we recognize that the couple and their families will wish to have candid pictures, we ask that the following be considered by professional and amateur photographers alike:

  • We recommend that flash pictures be taken only during the processional and recessional.
  • Please ask your photographer to report to the Pastor upon his/her arrival at the church.

Obtain the Marriage License

The license must be obtained in the town in which the ceremony will take place (i.e., the Town of Greenwich). It is valid for sixty (60) days from date of issue. There is a four-day waiting period between the day of application and the day the license may be picked up, so be sure to allow enough time in applying. The license should be given to the pastor at the wedding rehearsal.

Fees

The fees for a wedding in our church are available from the church office. Separate checks, payable to the church or the appropriate person, should be mailed to the church in advance or brought to the wedding rehearsal.

For further information, or to begin planning your wedding with us, please call the church office at (203) 637-1791, ext 814.
