Our Choirs

The Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir, ages 18 and older, is a dedicated group of volunteer and professional singers who provide music for Sunday worship throughout the year and is directed by Dr. Craig Scott Symons, Minister of Music/Organist. Weekly rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 pm in the Choir Room on the 3rd floor. On Sunday mornings, the choir meets at 9:00 am in the Meetinghouse for a thirty-minute warm-up. Between the warm-up and the 10:00 am service, choir members share pastries and treats as they continue the fellowship time.
The Chancel Choir participates in various events in the church and the community, including the annual Messiah performance, a Good Friday evening concert, Music Sunday and Spring Festival of the Arts performances, which have included Mendelssohn's Elijah, Brahms Requiem and others.

Genesis Choir
Grades 7 through 12
The Genesis Choir is for youth in grades 7 through 12. This dynamic group is directed by Daniel Young, accompanied by Matt Stolfi. Its goals include exposure to a variety of styles of sacred music, singing three and four-part music, further developing musicianship, enhancing expression, healthful singing and having fun. On occasion soloists and instrumentalists from the group are utilized. The Genesis Choir sings frequently throughout the season, including Christmas Eve with alumni joining their voices with the established group, Easter Sunrise service at Greenwich Point, and Music Sunday. Rehearsals are on Sundays following worship from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM in the Choir Room.

Celebration Singers
Grades 3 to 6
The Celebration Singers (grades 3 to 6) is under the direction of Dr. Craig Scott Symons, Minister of Music/Organist and accompanied by Vance Briceland. This group rehearses Sundays from 11:15 am to 12 Noon on the 3rd floor. An important aspect of the rehearsal hour is vocal training which results in a beautiful sound from the group. In addition to the vocal training, an emphasis on the development of a complete musical education plays an important part in each rehearsal. The choir usually sings 5-6 times a year in worship.

Cherub Choir
Kindergarten through 2nd grade
The Cherub Choir is for children in kindergarten through second grade. The children learn basic musical skills as they prepare to serve the church by singing for worship, all in a fun-filled atmosphere. Carol Woodman is their director, and Lynn Hawxhurst assists. Basic vocal skills are emphasized, along with rhythmic exercises and rehearsals consist of age-appropriate songs and anthems as well as hymns and carols. Rehearsals are for 30 minutes immediately following Church School in the Silver Door classroom in the lower level. The group sings for Harvest Sunday, some Christmas services, Palm Sunday, Celebration Sunday, and Music Sunday. On the Sundays that the Cherubs sing for services, they rehearse thirty minutes prior to the service and do not practice afterwards.
