Worshiping at First Church - Overview
First Church is proud to be a welcoming, vital, caring church, with a host of spiritual, educational and social activities for all ages. The main worship service is at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Church school is held at the same hour for the convenience of parents. We believe in the Lordship of Jesus Christ over our lives and God's earth. A unique aspect of the First Congregational Church of Greenwich is its belief in the right of private judgment. This principle holds that each individual has the right to decide his or her own spiritual beliefs. This respect for each individual's spiritual privacy is a major reason First Church attracts such a diverse membership of people from a variety of faith backgrounds. Each week the staff strives to present a unified service of worship. By reflecting the theme of the sermon in the anthems, hymns and prayers selected both for the Sunday morning worship service and the Church School, families can have open dialogue about the lesson of the day.
