Church Community Events
Sponsored by the Parish Life Committee

When all of the members and friends of First Church gather for fun and fellowship, the events are likely to be run by the Parish Life Committee. The intergenerational events that have become traditions here at First Church include:

  • Homecoming Picnic - Homecoming 2007 was a tremendous success featuring the music of Orogeny, the magic of Alex Leidy, a banquet of dishes prepared by members of First Church, the Second Annual Pie-Eating Contest, the creation of four wonderful "Stained Glass" Windows, and good fellowship. Our thanks to all who helped make Homecoming 2007 a success, and we look forward to seeing you at Homecoming 2008 on Sunday, September 14, 2008, rain or shine.

  • Christmas Carol Party - Christmas Carol Party 2007 was a festive celebration attended by 170-180 members and guests. Dinner included roast turkey, ham, desserts and a delicious array of seasonal beverages provided by the Parish Life Committee, along with a virtual feast of side dishes brought by members of First Church. Caroling was led by John Stansell, our Director of Music, with accompaniment by several of the Church’s talented musicians. Again, the Committee thanks all the members and friends that helped make Christmas Carol Party 2008 a success, and we look forward to seeing you at Christmas Carol Party 2008 on Sunday, December 14, 2008.

  • Maundy Thursday Service and Supper - On Thursday, March 20, 2008, we invite members and friends of First Church to attend a reflective and worshipful Seder: a feast of soup, breads, and fruit; celebration of the Lord’s Supper; scripture readings; and singing.

Watch for more information about all of these festivities in the Meetinghouse Monthly and in your bulletin.
