The First Church Festival Chorus

The First Church Festival Chorus began rehearsals on Sunday evening September 25. We will offer a new chance to share music in the community. Conducted by Craig Scott Symons, the First Congregational Church Festival Chorus will be a symphonic choral organization, which has the Chancel Choir as the core group of singers, but that will include singers from the surrounding communities. We will rehearse once a month and culminate in our Spring Choral Festival performance on Friday, May 4 with a full performance of the epic oratorio, Elijah, by Felix Mendelssohn, complete with full orchestra. Rehearsing on Sunday evenings from 7:00-9:30 p.m. in the Auditorium, the Festival Chorus creates an exciting opportunity to present larger choral/orchestral works that might be out of reach for singers in smaller choirs. Having researched the schedules of other choirs in the area, Sunday night (and the concert date) was chosen to avoid conflicts with other community and church choir rehearsals/performances. The rehearsal and performance schedule is as follows:

September 25
October 30
November 27
January 29
February 26
March 25
April 22
April 29, 3 – 6 p.m.           Soloist Dress with orchestra
April 29, 6 – 7 p.m.           Orchestra Dinner in Lounge
April 29, 7 – 10:00 p.m.   Dress with orchestra

Performance May 4 Friday, 8:00 p.m.
