Pasta, Pajamas & Parenting: How to Support Your Child’s Healthy Sexual Development and Gender Identity in Young Children
April 21, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This Parenting Speaker Series, cosponsored by the Church School and Preschool, will be held on Thursday, April 21, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. You may have heard recent media coverage of a family’s journey with their child’s transgender experience as written in the book “Raising Ryland”. While this topic is not all we will discuss it is certainly something for which we want to be informed and have sensitivity.
Missy Sturtevant, LCSW, of MaeBright in Boston MA will speak and lead a panel of parents and children who will share their personal experiences. Knowing that parents prefer to be the first source of information for their children about values and life choices, this is a perfect opportunity for you to gather information and ways to communicate your values to your children.
MaeBright was founded by Director and Owner, Missy Mae Sturtevant, LCSW. Missy holds over a decade of training and facilitation experience. She studied social work at Wheelock College and has a BA in Psychology with minors in Health and Wellness as well as Theater from Cedar Crest College. Missy has direct and macro level social work experience that includes policy research, youth leadership development, group home care, and inclusive comprehensive sexuality education.
RSVP: Please reply to Darla Kohler Steiner by email ( DarlaK@fccog.org), or by phone call (203-637-5430), by Tuesday, April 19, so we have enough food and child care for all.
